Fixed price from CHF 499, no hourly billing
From the station to Bundesplatz is a five minute walk, and the whole stretch lies inside the old town: six kilometres of arcades in a bend of the Aare, a World Heritage Site since 1983. Tram 7 crosses the city from Ostring all the way to Bümpliz without a change. At the northern end of line 9 stand the head offices of the Post and the federal railways, plus three federal agencies.
A place under the arcades has no window onto the street, and often a staircase leads down into a cellar unit. What passers-by would otherwise see has to be on the phone instead: what you offer, what it costs, when you open and where exactly the door is.
The person reading here checks before making contact: who stands behind this, how long the organisation has existed, who signs for it and whether the same details exist in French. An annual report as a PDF does not answer that. Details like these belong on pages that can be forwarded one by one.
A job in the old town runs under heritage protection rules, one on the edge of the city runs under time pressure. If you do both, show both: finished work with photos, the area you cover, and a number someone still picks up on a Friday afternoon.
Some patients arrive on referral, others look for you themselves. The first group needs a page for referring doctors with a form and a direct number, the second needs consultation hours, areas of focus and a clear word on whether you are taking anyone on at all.
Anyone who wins work in Bern through public tenders and association networks needs an address in the city and people they know from a committee. We have neither. Three things are left, and they are in the quote rather than in a promise.
There is no intermediate stage between question and answer
What you describe does not pass through consulting, then a concept stage, then implementation. It goes to the person who opens the file afterwards. That is why a follow-up question gets an answer and not a calendar invitation for the next round.
A figure that survives a committee
Many decisions here are not taken at a desk but by a board or a commission. So you get a sum you can pass on unchanged, together with the list of what it covers and what it does not. It only gets more expensive if you add something yourself, and that price is stated beforehand.
Accessibility is settled before the quote
The federal administration measures its own web services against eCH-0059, that is WCAG 2.1 level AA, and passes the requirement on in its tenders. In the federal city the question therefore comes up earlier than elsewhere. If someone expects that kind of evidence from you, say so in the first call: then the effort is in the quote and not in a later addition.
Direct trains run at least every half hour and the journey takes about an hour. For your project a different border weighs more: German and French are both official languages of the canton of Bern. In the Bernese Jura French is the official language, in and around Biel/Bienne it is both. Where your customers sit therefore decides more than where we sit.

QR invoice, payment within thirty days, place of jurisdiction in Switzerland. For an association or a foundation that means a document that goes into the annual accounts without an exchange rate and without a currency difference. If your auditors need a breakdown by item, say so beforehand and it is already on the quote.
Hosting and backups sit on servers in Europe. For a private company that is the ordinary case and needs no special arrangement. It is different if you process data on behalf of a cantonal or municipal body: then their own data protection law applies as well, and the contract for it belongs before the project starts. That is why we ask in the first call who your site is collecting data for.
The Bernese Jura, Biel/Bienne and the Seeland are in the same country as you, and the same revised FADP applies there. You do not need an EU style consent banner for that, but you do need a data protection statement people can understand, in both language versions. The EU standard only comes into play once you deliberately target an audience beyond the national border.
In Bern the decision is often made by a board, not at a desk. So you get a figure you can pass on unchanged.

What is the price of a website for a Bern business?
Three tiers, each with a figure settled beforehand. The Onepager starts at CHF 499, the Starter package with up to three pages at CHF 699, Business with up to five pages at CHF 1'099. Booking, a shop, a second language, a members area or a newsletter are add-ons and each carries its own price. After the first call the sum is fixed in writing and is not recalculated by effort at the end. What remains afterwards: the hosting, billed monthly and cancellable to the end of the month, and the maintenance, voluntary and with a six month minimum term.
Is a French version worth it for us?
In the canton of Bern this is not an export question. German and French are both official languages: in the Bernese Jura, French is the official language, in and around Biel/Bienne it is both. If a noticeable share of your customers comes from there, or if you work for a cantonal body, French is closer than English. Two languages means two separate addresses with texts written for each, not a widget sitting on top of the German version. It is an add-on with its own price rather than a mark-up on the whole package.
We are an association with an office in Bern. Do you build that too?
Yes, and the needs differ from those of a shop. What is usually wanted is a clear page on remit and governing bodies, somewhere to file documents and position papers, an events calendar and a second language version, because the members do not all come from the Mittelland. The basic structure is in the same three packages; a members area, a newsletter or the second language sit alongside as add-ons with their own price. The price stays fixed so you can put it into an application unchanged.
How much of a project actually happens in Bern?
It opens with a short video call. Once a project is concrete we come to Bern once; the journey from Basel takes about an hour with no change of train. We do not travel for interim questions, otherwise the travel time ends up inside the fixed price. The rest runs in writing: dashboard, ticket system, WhatsApp, and video when that is quicker. On timing: two to four weeks, whatever the scope. More pages mean more hours on our side, not more waiting on yours. Counting starts once the texts and images have reached us.
Our office sits somewhere in the canton, not in the city of Bern. Is that a problem?
No. The canton is economically broad: administration and services in the Mittelland, industry and farming in the Emmental and the Oberaargau, tourism in the Oberland, watchmaking and precision engineering around Biel/Bienne, vegetable growing in the Seeland. Köniz, Ostermundigen, Ittigen, Zollikofen, Muri, Bolligen, Belp, Münsingen, Worb and Wohlen are within our catchment area, as are Thun, Steffisburg, Spiez and Interlaken, Burgdorf, Langenthal and Langnau, Biel, Nidau, Lyss and Aarberg, and Saint-Imier, Tramelan, Tavannes and La Neuveville in the Bernese Jura. Moutier has belonged to the canton of Jura rather than Bern since 1 January 2026; if your site still says otherwise, we correct that while rebuilding.
