Websites for St. Gallen built in Basel

Weblio is a Basel studio. We build websites for SMEs in St. Gallen, across the canton and in neighbouring Appenzell. Fixed price before we start.

Fixed price from CHF 499, no travel costs

St. Gallen is a valley full of firms whose customers live across the border.

From the station to the abbey courtyard is under ten minutes on foot. Behind it the city stretches as a narrow band through the valley between two ridges, from the Sitter gorge in the west to the point where the Steinach leaves town. Most of these districts were villages of their own until 1918, and a large share of the businesses still sit there rather than in the centre.

Shops, restaurants, retail

People search while they are out and almost always on a phone. Opening hours, range and address have to be there straight away, and so does the parking question: a good share of the customers comes in from the surrounding region, and the lanes are a pedestrian zone. Anyone who does not know where to leave the car often does not come at all.

Trades, construction, small industry

The first question is almost never how long the firm has existed, but whether you drive out that far. So the area you cover belongs near the top of the page, with place names instead of the word region. The neighbouring canton begins at the edge of town, and customers there do not care about that line for a second.

Practices, therapy, health care

Anyone looking for a practice settles two things: whether the treatment they need is on the list, and whether they can manage the way there. The catchment area often reaches into Appenzell, where the next village is already in a different canton, and the city itself climbs up two slopes. So the bus stop and the parking belong on the page just as much as the consultation hours, and online booking takes care of the rest.

Engineering, suppliers, consulting

Here somebody reads with a technical question in mind: what exactly can you do, to which standards, from which batch size, and who picks up the phone. From here you are in Austria, Liechtenstein or Germany within an hour by car, and the customers are spread accordingly. An English version is therefore not a special request but the rule.

In eastern Switzerland hardly anybody knows us

St. Gallen is small enough that work travels by recommendation, and we are not on those lists. If references from the Rheintal matter to you, you will find them right on your doorstep. What we bring instead is set out in the three points below, and every one of them can be checked before you sign.

One contact person, from the quote to life after launch

The quote, the code and the reply in the ticket come from the same person. There is no account manager translating in between, and the work does not change hands once the project is running. What you say does not have to pass through a briefing chain.

Fixed price, and nothing afterwards that ties you down

The sum is set before we start and does not change after that. Hosting runs monthly and can be cancelled to the end of any month, maintenance is optional and runs for at least six months. No annual contract, no setup fee. That is deliberate, because we are not next door: you should be able to walk away without the distance becoming an argument.

We build at your scale

A onepager or a site with up to five subpages is the work that runs here every day. A supplier with eight people does not get a process designed for a corporation, and no technology they could never open again without us.

Basel and St. Gallen are a good two hours apart.

One change in Zurich. A direct connection along the Hochrhein has been announced for December 2027, and it will not make the trip any faster. We are not talking the distance down: it changes nothing about the price and nothing about the response time, but it does mean we see each other less often than someone from Herisau would.

The price is set before we start

Onepager from CHF 499, Starter from CHF 699, Business from CHF 1'099. A short video call and the sum is fixed; no hourly counter runs alongside. The kilometres to St. Gallen are our problem, not yours.

Invoiced in francs, Swiss place of jurisdiction

TWINT or QR invoice, 30 day payment terms, jurisdiction in Switzerland. Between you and us there is no customs or currency question, no matter how many kilometres lie in between. It only gets interesting one level further out, with your own customers.

Liechtenstein pays in francs and checks under EU law

Liechtenstein has been part of the EEA since 1995, so the GDPR applies there even though people pay in francs. In Vorarlberg and on the German shore of Lake Constance the euro and EU law come together. If your site deliberately addresses those customers, the EU standard is the benchmark, not the revised FADP on its own.

Servers in the EU, and the banner is a separate question

The Federal Council lists EU and EEA states as having adequate data protection, so a transfer there gets by without additional safeguards. The revised FADP does not require a consent banner the way the EU does, but it does require transparency about what you collect. In practice the location is rarely the problem; what the page pulls in matters more: analytics, fonts, maps, forms.

In eastern Switzerland work comes by recommendation, and we are not on those lists. So we put what we can do in writing before you sign.

How we work

What businesses in St. Gallen ask us right away

If your question is missing, send us two lines. We answer with what applies to your case, not with a general statement.

Three packages, each at a fixed price: the Onepager from CHF 499, Starter with up to three pages from CHF 699, Business with up to five pages from CHF 1'099. Booking, a shop, a second language or a newsletter are add-ons, and each one carries its own price. After that hosting remains, cancellable monthly, and maintenance if you want it, with a six month minimum term. There is no surcharge for sitting in eastern Switzerland.

The first call stays short and runs on video. Once a project is settled we travel to St. Gallen, a good two hours by train. We do not make the trip for questions in between, because that travel time would end up in the price. In between everything runs through WhatsApp, video, the ticket system or the dashboard, whichever suits you.

Little in terms of language, quite a lot in legal terms. German is spoken all around, but Liechtenstein belongs to the EEA and Vorarlberg to the EU, and the GDPR applies there. For the site that means proper consent management as soon as you deliberately address those customers, prices in two currencies if you invoice in euros, and delivery terms that mention customs. An English version is booked as an add-on and paid for on its own, not as a mark-up on the whole package.

Yes, and the canton is economically broader than the city: industry and suppliers in the Rheintal, machinery and trades in the Fürstenland, tourism and craft in the Toggenburg and the Sarganserland, commerce and tourism around Lake Constance. Gossau, Wil, Uzwil, Flawil, Rapperswil-Jona, Uznach, Wattwil, Altstätten, Widnau, Buchs, Sargans, Bad Ragaz and Rorschach are within our catchment area, and so are Herisau, Teufen, Speicher and Trogen in Appenzell, which is a different canton but often the closer neighbour. The location changes nothing about the process.

If you need someone who stands at a booth at the Olma fair, knows you from the local trade association or comes to your office every two weeks: take someone from St. Gallen or Herisau. We cannot do that from Basel, and we do not pretend otherwise. What we bring is a fixed price, one contact person and a quote you can compare with any other.

Two to four weeks, whatever the scope. More pages mean more hours on our side, not more waiting on yours. The clock starts once the texts and images are there. So if you want to be live before the Olma fair in October, get in touch in summer rather than at the end of September.

Before anything in St. Gallen gets built, we talk first

A short video call, in German or English. At the end you have a quote with a fixed price and a realistic start date. No obligation, and you do not have to prepare anything.
