The main station sits right against the old town and carries the fourth highest passenger volume in the country; its lanes are a five minute walk away. South-west of the tracks lies the Sulzer site, twenty hectares of workshops turned into flats, a technology park and lecture halls. The firms that still produce sit a few S-Bahn minutes further out.
Anyone shopping here could be in Zurich twenty minutes later. So the site has to say what exists at your place and nowhere else: the range, the brands, the workshop behind the shop. Opening hours and market days belong with it, because nobody is going to call and ask.
What gets enquired about is a process or a part, not a company. The site needs the terms your buyers really type in, data sheets they can download and an English version. Leave out the material and the tolerance so the text reads more airily, and you lose exactly the enquiry that would have paid off.
What people search for is a complaint and a free slot, rarely the name of the practice. So the areas of focus belong on the page in plain words, who treats and from when. The city stretches between seven wooded hills, which makes the stop outside your door count as well.

Servers in the EU and the EEA need no additional safeguards; the Federal Council counts these states as countries with adequate data protection. The revised act asks for no consent before the first click, but it does ask for a comprehensible account of what you collect. To many providers Winterthur is one more suburb. We put the town's own name in the text, because that is what your customers type, not greater Zurich.

What should we budget for a new website?

How long does it take, and what carries on after launch?
Two to four weeks, whatever the scope. More subpages mean more hours on our side, not more waiting on yours. The clock starts once the texts and images have all reached us. After that, only what you want carries on: hosting is cancellable monthly to the end of the month, a maintenance package is voluntary and has a six month minimum term. Neither is a condition for us building.
You also have a page for Zurich. Is Winterthur not the same thing to you?
No, and that is why Winterthur does not appear among the surrounding municipalities on our Zurich page. The city has its own old town, its own industrial history and a university of applied sciences whose largest campus is here. A firm in Hegi has different neighbours and different customers than one in Oerlikon. For the website that mainly means one thing: the places in the text are yours, not the cantonal capital's.
Will we meet you in person at some point?
Yes, though not for every small thing. The first conversation stays short and runs on screen. Once a project becomes concrete we travel over: around an hour and a half from Basel, with one change in Zurich, because no long-distance train runs through. We do not board a train for single follow-up questions, otherwise the travel time would end up in your price.
Our buyers are abroad. Does the site have to exist in English too?
If a noticeable share of your enquiries comes from there, yes. A good quarter of Winterthur's population holds no Swiss passport, a lot of work at the university of applied sciences happens in English anyway, and in machine and plant construction English is the language of data sheets. Multilingual means two separate addresses with their own text each. An automatic translation laid over the German version does not count. That runs as an add-on and is priced individually.
Do the Weinland and the Töss valley still count for you?
Yes. Wiesendangen, Seuzach, Hettlingen, Neftenbach, Pfungen, Elsau, Rickenbach, Dinhard, Elgg and Illnau-Effretikon are within our catchment area, along with Turbenthal, Zell, Wila and Bauma in the Töss valley and Andelfingen, Marthalen, Ossingen and Stammheim in the Weinland. Frauenfeld already lies in Thurgau and Schaffhausen in a canton of its own, and we count both in. The address changes nothing about how we work.
