Weblio is a studio in Basel building websites for SMEs, practices and trades in the city and canton of Geneva. In French, with an English version if you want one.
Fixed price from CHF 499, no hourly billing
It is five minutes on foot from Cornavin station to the lakeshore, and the canton is small enough to cross in half an hour. Even so, the catchment area stops nowhere at the cantonal boundary: a large share of the people who work here live in France, and for them coming to Geneva is not a border crossing but the commute. Alongside it sits a second city of organisations, banks and trading houses that draws its own circles and has little to do with the business on the corner.
Part of your custom comes from across the border and plans the trip in advance. So the phone has to carry what is otherwise pinned to the door: what you offer and what it costs, the opening hours including the closing day, whether you can book, and which language you are served in.
Some patients arrive on referral, some look for you themselves, and some are insured in France. So the site has to answer early what otherwise gets settled on the phone: which insurers are billed, whether anyone new is being taken on, the consultation hours, and which language the appointment happens in.
A job in an old building in the Vieille-Ville and one in a new development at Plan-les-Ouates are two different pieces of work, and anyone doing both should show both. So finished work in photographs, a service area stated plainly, and a number someone answers on a Friday afternoon too.
Here someone reads who checks before making contact: what you specialise in, how long the firm has existed, who the contact person is, and whether the information is available in English too. A company brochure as a PDF does not answer that. It belongs on pages that can be forwarded one at a time.
Anyone looking after an organisation at the Nations, a private bank or a trading house needs a team, a tender process and people on site. That is not us. For the business on the corner, the practice and the workshop, three things remain, and they sit in the offer rather than in a promise.
The price carries no Geneva surcharge
What a onepager costs is on our price page and holds in Geneva just as it does on the Rhine bend. We calculate by the scope of the site, not by the price level of the city where it will be read. The difference shows up more here than elsewhere, and that is exactly why we write it down.
Here the second language is usually English
In Geneva the obvious second version is not German but English, because a noticeable share of the audience has neither as a first language. Each version gets its own address with its own text, so search engines find them separately. We tell you in advance what the second language costs, and you decide afterwards.
Between question and answer there is no intermediate stage
You do not get consulting first, then project management, then someone from production. Whoever answers you also works on the file. That saves the round in which something gets translated, and it means a question produces an answer rather than a meeting for the next round.
A train runs every hour, and with one change in Lausanne the fastest connection takes just under three hours. The first call therefore runs on video and costs nothing, a meeting on site is possible by arrangement. Day to day the distance hardly matters anyway: progress sits in the dashboard, questions go through the ticket system, WhatsApp or a short video. For your site something else is closer than Basel in any case, namely the national border a few kilometres away.
CHF 499 for the onepager, CHF 699 for Starter, CHF 1'099 for Business. After a short video call the figure is there in writing, along with the list of what it produces. If you set your budget in autumn for the coming year, you can plan with it without adding a buffer for hours.
QR invoice, payment within thirty days, place of jurisdiction in Switzerland. For a company or an association that means a document entering the annual accounts without a conversion rate and without an exchange difference. If your auditors need a breakdown by item, say so beforehand and it will already be on the quote.
Hosting and backups sit on servers in Europe. For a Swiss company the revised Federal Act on Data Protection applies first. A smaller business usually does not have to keep a register of processing activities at all, it is still worth having, and with health data we look more closely. So we ask in the first call what your forms are for and who reads the answers.
Which data protection law applies is not decided by your registered office alone, but also by who your offer addresses. In Geneva that is not a marginal question: if your site aims at customers in the neighbouring department, with French addresses, prices in euros or delivery across the border, European law applies alongside. Tell us in the first call who you want to reach, and we build the site to fit rather than rebuilding it later.
Geneva holds two economies, and we work for the smaller one. The price follows the size of your site, not the price level of the city.
How we work
If your question is missing, write to us. The legal notes on this page come from practice and do not replace professional advice.
What does a Geneva business pay, and what stays afterwards?
Three tiers whose figures are settled beforehand. The onepager starts at CHF 499, the Starter package with up to three pages at CHF 699, Business with up to five pages at CHF 1'099. Booking, a shop, a second language, a members area or a newsletter are add-ons, each with its own price. After the first call the sum is fixed in writing and is not recalculated by effort at the end. What stays afterwards: the hosting, billed monthly and cancellable to the end of the month, and maintenance, optional, with a six month minimum term.
Do we pay more in Geneva than elsewhere?
No. The three figures on our price page hold wherever your business sits. We calculate by scope, not by location, and there is no surcharge because rents on your street are high. What moves the price are add-ons: a second language, a shop, a members area, a booking system. Each carries its own price, and you see it before you commit. The first call runs on video and costs nothing, a meeting on site is possible by arrangement.
Part of our customers and staff live in France. What does that mean for the site?
Three things, none of them dramatic if thought through beforehand. First the language: French carries here anyway, and English is a more common second version than German. Second practical reachability: opening hours, public holidays and availability differ on either side of the border, and anyone travelling from France wants to know beforehand. Third data protection: if your offer deliberately addresses an audience in France, European law applies alongside the revised FADP. We settle that in the first call, so it sits in the site rather than in a later rebuild.
Do we need an English version?
More often in Geneva than elsewhere in Switzerland. If a noticeable share of your customers are people here for work who have neither French nor German as a first language, English is the obvious second version. For a trades business with jobs across the canton, French is often enough. Two languages means two separate addresses each with its own text, not a widget laid over the French version. It is an add-on with its own price, not a surcharge on the whole package.
We are based in the canton rather than the city of Geneva. Is that a problem?
No. The canton is small and the area covered takes in all of it. Carouge, Vernier, Lancy, Meyrin, Onex, Thônex, Chêne-Bougeries, Chêne-Bourg, Versoix, Grand-Saconnex, Plan-les-Ouates, Veyrier, Bernex, Confignon, Perly-Certoux, Satigny, Collonge-Bellerive, Cologny, Vandœuvres, Pregny-Chambésy, Bellevue, Genthod and Anières are part of it, as are the communes of the Champagne and the Mandement out to Chancy and Dardagny. Where you sit changes nothing about the price, and the first call runs on video anyway.
Why not an agency from Geneva?
If you look after an organisation, take part in a tender, run a campaign across several channels or need someone at your table regularly, take an agency from here. Geneva has enough of them. That is not our work. Ours is a fixed price, one contact person and a quote you can set line by line against any other. The first call we do on video, and a meeting on site can be arranged.
A short video call, in French, English or German. Afterwards a fixed-price quote lands with you. No obligation, and we settle the language question in the same call.
